India Tours to Rajasthan

Over the last one millennia and more, Rajasthan has been known for its history of bravery, courage and chivalry, unparalleled elsewhere in the country and this proud tradition, coupled with down to earth humility of its common people, is what makes this land unique. The people in general are warm-hearted and friendly and ever ready to share their winsome smile and simple fare spontaneously without any reservation. Though a significantly large part of the state is covered by the sand dunes of Thar Desert, but its bleakness is more than compensated by the warm and vibrant colors in the attire of its people, be it the long skirts and tops of its damsels, or the colorful turbans of its sturdy denizens. As compared to neighbouring states, while its inimitable forts and palaces have been excellently maintained, which are still a pleasure to visit. Though royalty has long been abolished in the democratic polity of a resurgent India and the royal titles no more used officially, but a vast number of royal forts and palaces have been painstakingly remodeled and put to excellent use as luxury heritage hotels, which boast of ‘no vacancies’ and long waiting lists running into years. Famous Hollywood stars and international royalty patronize these deluxe inns, while on the other hand, today’s inn keepers, who were the maharajas (potentates) of yore continue to command unprecedented love and respect among their erstwhile subjects.

It is to the immense credit of Rajasthani ethos that one of the most important Islamic shrines in India, viz. the Dargah Sharif of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (1141 CE -1230 CE) located at Ajmer, witnesses many more non-Muslim visitors then even Muslim devout, as an image of inter-religious amity.

Rajasthan has delved deep into its culture and history to come out with a wide array of colorful fairs and festivals at every small turn of the season, placed in widely scattered locations, which provide an excellent chance to the visitor to participate in its inimitable lively traditions and local delicacies, which vary at every turn of the road.
